Purpose:

To Provide sound clinical judgement in both the prescription and delivery of dental treatment. To deliver a patient list of 2500 signed up to My Dentist Cares and therefore maximising UDA contract achievement. Refer all clinically suitable patients to Hygienist where possible.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Provide a full range of dental care to patients in line with local and national policies and procedures. This includes keeping of accurate and contemporaneous notes, use of dental software and adherence to NICE guidelines etc...

2. Provide emergency dental care for unregistered patients

3. Where the post-holder has relevant knowledge, skills and training, provide dental care requiring specialist skills such as inhalation, sedation and domiciliary care.

4. Manage the day to day activities of the dental surgery.

5. Assessing treatment options and agreeing treatment plans with patients and where possible maximising private income.

6. Marketing services to potential clients.

7. Supervise and delegate appropriate tasks to the ancillary staff in accordance with current General Dental Council regulations and Operational Policies where applicable.

8. Provide statistical and other information to the Dental Practice Board (or equivalent), management and Primary Care Trusts as required.

9. Take part in epidemiological studies, dental screening and health promotion activities as required to meet the dental public health requirements of the Company.

10. Liaise with colleagues in hospitals, primary care and local authorities to ensure the quality of patient care.

11. Undertake necessary training and development to comply with, national, professional and Primary Care Trust requirements.

12. Take part in all aspects of clinical governance including Clinical Governance Policy and GDC lifelong learning, clinical audit and clinical supervision.

13. Participate in Private Patient Plans, Out of Hours service and evening on-call duties if required.

14. To carry out such additional duties as may be reasonably required.

Professional/Academic/Technical Requirements:

Qualified, with GDC registration
Indemnity insurance
Evidence of vaccination status on request and maintain hepatitis B serology levels.
Evidence of radiography and CPR/medical emergencies
3 years NHS experience preferred but not essential
Evidence of CPD verifiable hours
